Your responsibilities :
Collect and process full cycle of 8 payrolls for Canadian and U.S. hourly, salaried, and non-union employees; (approximately 350 employees)
Verify and process payroll information following labour regulations.
Prepare month-end journal entries for divisions.
Liaise with Payroll Manager for special assignments.
Assist in the preparation and administration of payroll for all non-unionized employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy.
Ensure that all salaries are paid accurately and in a timely fashion.
Prepare journal entries and forms, such as records of employment, income tax forms, and remittances.
Process year-end T4's; balancing and issuing, in an accurate and timely manner.
Implement salary increases, bonuses, commissions, and so on in accordance with instructions given.
Monitor and investigate accounting reports that are run after payroll is processed to ensure that deductions and other areas of payroll have the proper controls.
Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
Maintain records for pension and life insurance contributions made by employees; liaise with service providers to ensure funds are transferred as appropriate.
Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate and up to date.
Prepare and file - monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for US & CANADA.
Prepare US quarterly reports and US state reporting
Reconcile payroll related G/L accounts.
Prepare Canadian and US government reports upon requests.
Take and handle all inquiries arising from questions about payroll
Other financial duties as assigned
Your profile :
University degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
Three (3) to Five (5) years of payroll experience including the processing of salaries, bonuses, commissions, and other forms of compensation with Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certifications Or American Payroll Association (APA)
Strong knowledge of payroll systems, internal controls, and management.
Advanced proficiency with payroll programs and applications (ADP-WFN).
Knowledge of audits, income tax forms, health benefits programs, sick pay, retirement plans, etc.
Good knowledge of accounting, general ledger, journal entries, and bookkeeping.
Ability to prepare ad hoc reports using Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of accounting software (JDE) is an asset
Knowledge of US payroll is an asset
Good verbal and written communication skills, both in English and French
